In continuation of the Graduate school's biannual awards of faculty scholarships, the Department of Clinical Medicine (IKM) receives applications that have not been awarded a faculty scholarship. Thus, only candidates who have applied in Graduate school's two annual rounds and have not received a fully funded faculty scholarship are considered for the award of IKM's scholarship funds.
All candidates will receive an email from the department secretariat and will be given the opportunity to submit an updated budget - or submit a budget if it was not part of the application to the Graduate school.
The awards committee at IKM will then process the applications, cf. the criteria below.
IKM awards scholarship funds based on the faculty's assessment of the applications. The faculty assesses the applications based on the following criteria:
You can read more about the faculty's assessment of the applications on the Graduate School website.
In addition, IKM takes into account the candidates' already obtained funding and therefore awards both partially funded and fully funded scholarships.
IKM's award committee also strives to award scholarship funds based on the following strategic criteria:
- No main supervisor can receive scholarship funds for more than one candidate - in total; so both in the faculty's award and the IKM's award.
- Awarding scholarship funds to the best ranked application from a regional hospital - if one has not already been awarded from the faculty to a regional hospital project.
- Early recruitment: IKM prioritises awarding funds to candidate PhD scholarship applicants if there are any among the highest ranked.
The IKM award committee awards funds for salary and/or tuition fees. The funds cannot be used for daily operating expenses, conferences, equipment, etc.
If the candidate is awarded a fully funded scholarship from the IKM scholarship pool, it is a requirement that the employment remains at Aarhus University (AU).
If the candidate is awarded a partially funded scholarship, e.g. 2 years' salary, the candidate will be paid from the scholarship funds for a more specifically agreed period, so that it matches when the remaining funding is to be used.
The salary funds can be transferred to the region if the candidate has been awarded a maximum of 1/3 of the salary funds and the candidate is to be employed in Region Midt. If this is the case, the scholarship funds must be collected via an invoice to AU.
Please note that although the salary in the region may be higher than the equivalent of DKK 550,000. per year - IKM cannot allocate additional funds for a year's salary.
The candidate can be enrolled at the earliest on the 1st after the decision from IKM's scholarship award. The start date is always the 1st of a month. The candidate must be enrolled no later than 6 months after the allocation of funds.
