You are a strong researcher and internationally oriented, experienced research leader who can ensure a good research environment, leading and inspiring the next generation. Ph.D. supervision and educational leadership tasks are included.
How do you become a Professor?
Most Professors at the Department of Clinical Medicine (IKM) have created their professorship through external funding, commonly known as earmarked funds. This process always happens in close collaboration with an appointing manager. Some Professors at IKM have been employed because they applied for an advertised position.

Before proceeding, are the prerequisites in place?
You/my leader need to find an average of 880,000 DKK per year (AU's 2024 figures – subject to salary negotiations) for a full-time professorship – preferably for a minimum of 3 and ideally 5 years (because you can only be extended a maximum of two times as a temporary Professor). Some Professors work part-time, for example, one day a week (costing approximately 175,000 DKK per year), and the remaining 4 days in a clinical position. Note that one day a week (20% employment) is the lowest accepted employment level in academic positions.
