A Postdoc is a scientific position where you can develop an independent clinical research profile. You are employed for a maximum of 4 years, regardless of whether you are employed full-time or part-time. Postdoc is not a career position, and you are not entitled to be offered specific career development opportunities. Therefore, the Postdoc position is sometimes humorously referred to as an 'academic dead end' by some. Of course, this is an exaggeration - you gain valuable skills for use in your future career, which for many extends beyond the university.
