First aid courses (CPR)

At Department of Clinical Medicine (IKM), AU employees at IKM without regional employment are offered a first aid course (CPR) to provide the same opportunity to AU employees as non-healthcare AUH employees.
The course provides insight into current guidelines and is followed by practical training and feedback.
The course consists of:

  1. Theoretical overview of the basic cardiac arrest algorithm for adults and children, focusing on detection, alerting, and management of cardiac arrest.
  2. Demonstration of hand maneuvers and use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
  3. Skill training for individual hand maneuvers, AED use, and safe defibrillation.
  4. Mini-scenarios where the individual components are integrated, followed by evaluation of each participant’s performance.

The theoretical part is delivered as auditorium teaching and lasts approximately 45 minutes. Afterward, participants are divided into 2 groups for 45 minutes of practical training with feedback.

GMO laboratories

All work with GMO organisms must be reported to the Danish Working Environment Authority.

The notification consists of:

  • A project review to be renewed every 5 years.
  • A lab permit (classification as a class 1 lab) that is not, as a rule, limited in time.

If a lab permit has been granted, only a project review needs to be applied for.
The project owner must subsequently file various permits so that they can be presented if the Danish Working Environment Authority wishes to see them during inspections visits.

Advice on working environment

If you need guidance on the classification and labeling of hazardous substances, biosafety, working with carcinogens, Atex, and more, you can contact Health’s Chemical Consultant.

For assistance with shipping dangerous goods, including biological substances on dry ice by air or an IATA course, you can reach out to the Safety Advisor function.

If you require advice or help regarding specific issues related to physical work environment—such as ergonomics or indoor climate—you can contact one of the authorized advisors with whom AU has a collaboration agreement.

Please note that as a unit (department or center), you are responsible for covering all expenses related to using an advisor. You can find more information about AU’s partners for occupational health advice.
