At the turn of the year, the Department of Clinical Medicine (IKM) will appoint two new deputy heads to strengthen the department’s work in research and talent development.

Professor Tine Brink Henriksen will replace Clinical Chair Professor Ellen-Margrethe Hauge, who has spent the past three years enhancing the framework for research at the department.

Tine Brink Henriksen is a Clinical Professor and Head Consultant in Pediatrics at Aarhus University Hospital (AUH), with extensive experience in research and leadership. She looks forward to contributing to the department’s strategic development and enhancing collaboration between the university and hospitals in the region.

“This is a unique opportunity to shape and realize the department’s research strategies in close dialogue with university leadership, researchers, and in the important partnership between the university and hospitals,” says Tine Brink Henriksen.

Among other tasks, she will work on implementing the joint research strategy between Health and AUH.

Focus on talent development

Until now, IKM’s leadership has consisted of Department Head Jørgen Frøkiær and three deputy heads, each with their own area of responsibility. As part of this leadership reshuffle, a new deputy head position focusing on talent development has been added, which will be filled by Professor Annette de Thurah.

Annette de Thurah, a Professor in Rheumatology, has long focused on mentoring and developing early-career researchers.

“It’s so important to ensure a strong pipeline for future researchers, continually recruiting and training talented individuals. I’m very excited to work with everyone at the department on this important task,” she says.

The new leadership team will, among other responsibilities, work on a new research strategy with four key tracks, one of which is dedicated to creating optimal conditions for talented researchers.

A leased department head

With the addition of the two new deputy heads, IKM’s leadership team is now complete and ready to take on tasks in the new year. Department Head Jørgen Frøkiær is pleased to have secured two leaders with in-depth knowledge of the department.

“I’m thrilled that we were able to bring two such experienced and capable researchers into the leadership team, and I look forward to collaborating with Tine and Annette to ensure the best possible conditions for research at the department,” he says.

He adds:

“At the same time, I want to thank Ellen-Margrethe Hauge for her efforts as Deputy Head of Department for Research. She has been a driving force in implementing a new research strategy and improving the working culture at the department.”

In addition to Jørgen Frøkiær, Tine Brink Henriksen, and Annette de Thurah, the IKM leadership team includes Jeppe Lange, Deputy Head of Department for Regional Collaboration, and Anders Bonde, Deputy Head of Department for Education.
